Get a realistic estimate of what an unfair dismissal or discrimination claim could be worth — using the 2025/26 statutory figures. Built for people representing themselves.
This calculator gives a rough estimate for guidance only. It is information and strategy, not legal advice, and it does not predict what a tribunal will award in your case. Every case turns on its own facts. Awards can be reduced (for example for contributory conduct or failure to mitigate) or increased (for example ACAS uplifts). Use this to understand the moving parts — not as a guarantee.

Calculated like statutory redundancy pay. For each complete year of service (up to 20 years) you get:
A week's pay is capped at £719 (from 6 April 2025), so the maximum basic award is £21,570.
This covers your actual financial loss — mainly lost earnings from the date of dismissal until you find comparable work (past and estimated future). It is capped at the lower of 52 weeks' gross pay or £118,223 (from 6 April 2025).
A tribunal expects you to take reasonable steps to find new work. Keep evidence of every job you apply for — it protects your compensatory award.
If your claim involves discrimination, you may also recover compensation for injury to feelings, awarded in the three “Vento” bands (for claims presented on or after 6 April 2025):
Discrimination compensation is not capped, which is why discrimination claims can be worth considerably more than “ordinary” unfair dismissal.
Real awards are affected by ACAS uplifts (up to 25%), contributory fault deductions, Polkey reductions, pension loss, grossing-up for tax, and more. Treat this number as a way to understand the shape of a claim — then get your facts and evidence in order.
Once you know roughly what your claim could be worth, the next job is building it properly — the grievance, the evidence, the ET1, the schedule of loss. Our step-by-step templates and guides walk you through each stage.
